Errors and warnings for pension submissions and AEPNs

Summary

You can see different errors when submitting pension information or retrieving auto-enrolment payroll notifications (AEPNs) in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland.

Resolution

AEPN retrieval messages

Error message Details
'No new AEPNs to import'

This appears when your employee details are up to date.

'We have not been able to complete your AEPN request...'

This error appears for one of these reasons:

  • You haven't registered with My Future Fund
  • There are no AEPNs to retrieve

'Employment ID is not valid'

Sometimes, when an employee changes from enrolled to exempt, the employment record no longer appears in the auto-enrolment portal.

When this happens, the submission returns the error 'Employment ID is not valid'. Employees on Suspended status with a 0% contribution rate continue to process as expected.

  • 'No data found'

This is a message you can expect while eligibility assessment is ongoing. AEPNs don't appear every pay run.


Service and certificate errors

Error message Details
'Unable to connect to Internet. Please fix these issues before trying again'

This error appears if you try to retrieve an AEPN before the service is active.

'Internal error while calling the service'

This is a time-out message within the service, which occurs when the NAERSA server is busy at the time of the request.

  • 'Your password isn't recognised'
  • 'Certificate has expired'
  • The file type of the certificate isn't recognised'

The error appears if you're not on the latest version or your certificate is out of date.
