Before you install

To ensure your installation runs smoothly, we recommend you run through some quick checks:

Details to check

1. Open Sage Payroll 2025 and log in to your Payroll.
2. Go to Help then select System Information.
3. Confirm your current version number is v28.0.
   If it's v28.1, you've already installed the update.
4. Make a note of the Program Directory and Data Directory.
5. Back up your data.

Now you can download and install the software.

 NOTE: When following the steps below, be sure to right-click the downloaded file in Step 3 and choose Run as administrator. This ensures the software installs correctly and can make the necessary changes to your system.  

Download and install

Follow these alternative steps to install Sage Payroll on a network. Or if you're running on a single computer, follow the steps below:

1. Close Sage Payroll 2025.
2. Select the button below to download:
   Download Sage Payroll
3. In your Downloads folder, right-click Sage_Payroll_v28.1_Install.exe then select Run as administrator.
4. Select the I accept the terms of the licence checkbox, then Next.
5. Select This Computer, then Next.
6. Choose Custom, then select Next.
7. Check the program directory and data directory are the same as you noted earlier.
   If not, select Browse, and choose the correct location, then OK.
8. Select the Add shortcuts to my desktop checkbox, then click Install,
9. Once complete, click Finish.

You've now installed the latest Sage Payroll update.
