On the current computer

Check your Sage 50 Payroll Ireland directories

  1. Click Help, then click System Information.
  2. Note the paths for Program Directory and Data Directory.
  3. To close Sage 50 Payroll Ireland, click Login, then click Exit.

Copy your directories

  1. Insert a USB stick or external hard drive.
  2. Open File Explorer and create three folders:
    • Sage 50 Payroll Program
    • Sage 50 Payroll Data
    • Sage 50 Payroll Common Files
  3. Copy the full contents of each directory:
    • From the Program Directory you noted, copy the Sage Payroll folder into Sage 50 Payroll Program
    • From the Data Directory you noted, copy the Sage Payroll folder into Sage Payroll Data
    • From C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files, copy the Sage Ireland Payroll folder into Sage 50 Payroll Common Files
      TIP: If you don't see the ProgramData folder, enable hidden files in Windows.

Check that your computer meets the system requirements for Sage Payroll

Transfer your directories

  1. Insert the USB stick or external hard drive.
  2. Open File Explorer then copy the contents of each folder to the correct location:
    • Paste the contents of Sage Payroll Program into the same path as the original Program Directory
    • Paste the contents of Sage Payroll Data into the same path as the original Data Directory
    • Paste the contents of Sage Payroll Common Files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

Check the data path

  1. Open the Program Directory, then open each yearly folder.
  2. Open dataloc.ini in Notepad.
  3. Confirm the path matches the Data Directory. For example, C:\ProgramData\Sage Payroll Irl.

Install the software

  1. On the new computer download and install the latest version of Sage Payroll.
  2. During the installation, select Custom install.
  3. Point the installer to the Program and Data Directories you noted earlier.
