| | Using a recovery key for 2-factor authentication |
| Description | When you set up 2FA, you receive a 24-digit recovery key to note down and keep safe. Use this when you're unable to authenticate using your primary 2FA method (authenticator app, text, or call). The code is 24 digits, containing a mix of letters and numbers. For example: VNDS - 79KB - 7JAJ - QNKA - F5F7 - YUPX Recovery keys are single use, and you get a new recovery key if you use your existing one. |
| Resolution | - Log in to your Sage product or service as normal.
- When a prompt asks you to enter a 6-digit code, select Authenticate a different way.
- Select Recovery key.
- Enter the recovery key you noted when you first set up 2FA, and select Continue.
- Note your new recovery key. Keep it safe in case you need to use it in the future.
- After you've noted your recovery key, select I've saved my recovery key, then select Continue.
You've successfully logged in using your recovery key. Can't use your recovery key? If you're unable to use your recovery key, for example, you've lost it or it's invalid, use your backup method. - Select Authenticate a different way, then select Use your backup method
This allows you to use your backup recovery email address or phone number to generate a new recovery key or reset 2FA. For detailed steps, follow the using your backup method for 2FA article. |
