Record illness benefit when the employee keeps payments
Description

Use this guidance when:

  • The employee receives illness benefit directly
  • The company doesn't pay wages during the sick leave period

In this situation, don't record illness benefit in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland. If you pay the wages during the sick period, record illness benefits when the company pays the wages.

When the company makes no payment, don't save a timesheet for the employee as it can cause incorrect payroll and Revenue results.

To avoid saving a timesheet by mistake, suspend the employee in your payroll or select Ignore on their timesheet. When the employee returns to work, reinstate them and record their normal wages.
