You need the latest RPNs for every employee before you process pay. If no RPNs are available, apply emergency tax and USC. NOTE: If you’re trying to retrieve Auto-Enrolment Payroll Notifications (AEPNs), see retrieve AEPNs instead. Watch the video Open the RPN - On the top toolbar, go to Direct Payroll Reporting, then select RPN.
- Select Retrieve RPNs.
TIP: If your ROS login details already appear, skip the certificate steps and go to confirming your credentials. Load your ROS certificate - Under ROS Digital Certificate, select Browse.
- Select Certificate Files (*.p12, *.p12.bac, *.bac), then select Open.
- If you can’t see the file, choose All Files (.).
- If you downloaded a new certificate, select the one with the most recent Date Modified.
- If it still doesn’t appear, download your ROS Certificate again.
Enter your ROS password - Enter your ROS digital certificate password.
- Select Save password to Sage Payroll.
Confirm and import RPNs - Confirm your ROS login credentials.
- Select Next, then check the details on the Review RPN Details screen.

To view an employee’s RPN breakdown, select Info. - If there are no new RPNs to import, select Close, then continue to enter time and pay.
- If the information is correct, select Import, then select Export Details.
- To print the report, select Printer. To save a PDF copy, select Save. To close the report, select X in the top-right corner.
- Select Finish, then continue to enter time and pay.
