Data service unavailable - 'It is not possible to contact the Sage 50 Accounts Service...you must ensure that the service is running.
Description

When opening Sage 50 Accounts you may receive the following error message:

This may sound technical but it's quickly resolved by following a few simple steps. Let's get you back into your software.

 Recently upgraded? Download and install the Sage Accounts Data Service to esure the latest data service is on the computer that holds your data.

Restart the computer that holds your data

This resolves the issue in most cases, so try opening Sage 50 Accounts again. If the error still appears, or you're unable to restart the computer, continue to the next section.

NOTE: If your computer is on a network, all Sage 50 Accounts users should log out, then restart the computer that holds your data. 


Restart your computer

We recommend you restart the computer you currently use, then try to open Sage 50 Accounts again.

If the issue continues, move onto the next section.


Check the status of the Sage data service

  1. On the computer where your data is held, press the Windows key Image + R on your keyboard.
  2. In the Run window, where it says Open, enter services.msc then click OK.
  3. In the list of services find the relevant Sage 50 Accounts Service version. You can use our Check your version number guide if you're unsure what this is.



    NOTE: If the service is missing from the list, you should Download and install the Sage Accounts Data Service.

  4. Right-click the Sage 50 Accounts Service e.g. v28 and click Start. You can Check if you're a Windows administrator in order to do this.

    NOTE: If the service is showing as Stopping, follow our Sage Services is stuck on the Stopping status to fix this.

  5. Right-click the Sage 50 Accounts Control e.g. v28 and click Start.

Try opening Sage 50 Accounts.
