Summary

In this Sage 50 Payroll Ireland article, we explain how employee circumstances affect auto-enrolment (My Future Fund).

Answers

What if an employee goes on long-term sick leave?

If the employer pays no income, the payroll calculates no contributions. If the employer pays income, the payroll calculates contributions as normal. Employees can suspend contributions through the portal.

What happens when an employee leaves?

Mark the employee as a leaver in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland. NAERSA then sends an AEPN to stop contributions.

What if an employee turns 23 mid-year?

Once the employee turns 23 and meets the other criteria, NAERSA enrols them.

What if an employee turns 60 after enrolment?

Employees continue in the scheme. The 23–60 rule applies only at initial assessment.
