Sage 50 Payroll Ireland can close without warning when you open a report. You can fix this by updating your default printer and turning off advanced printing features.
Sage 50 Payroll Ireland closes if Windows uses a printer it can’t access or if a network printer blocks certain features. Updating your default printer and turning off advanced printing options often fixes the issue.
Check your default printer
- Close Sage Payroll and any other software.
- Press the Windows key + X, then select Settings.
- Select Devices, then Printers & scanners.
- Clear Let Windows manage my default printer.
- Select Microsoft Print to PDF or Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
- Select Manage, then Set as default.
- Open Sage 50 Payroll Ireland and log in.
- From the process map, select Other Reports.
- If the option shows as locked, clear locks.
Turn off advanced printing features
- Close Sage 50 Payroll Ireland and any other software.
- Press the Windows key + X, then select Settings.
- Select Devices, then Printers and scanners.
- Select your network printer, then select Manage.
- Select Printer properties.
- Open the Advanced tab, then clear Enable advanced printing features.
If Windows greys out the option, contact your IT support.

Select OK, then Cancel. - Open Sage 50 Payroll Ireland and enter your payroll.
- From the process map, select Other reports.
- If the option shows as locked, clear locks.
