Sage Drive - Connect to Sage Drive data from a remote computer

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

With Sage Drive you, your colleagues, and your accountant can access your live Sage 50 Accounts data from remote locations using the Internet. This article explains how to connect to Sage Drive from a remote computer on Sage 50 Accounts v26 and below.

Resolution

CAUTION: After 2 August 2021, Remote Data Access (formerly known as Sage Drive) will no longer be available in Sage 50cloud Accounts v26 and below and all versions of Sage 50 Accounts. To use Remote Data Access after that date you must install Sage 50cloud Accounts v27.

Once the Sage 50 Accounts data is uploaded to the cloud from the main computer, you can connect to your company data remotely from another computer. Once connected, this computer that accesses the company data remotely becomes a remote site on Sage Drive.

CAUTION: This article applies to Sage 50 Accounts v26 and below. If you're using Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above, please refer to our alternative guide.

If you are connecting to Sage Drive for the first time, before you connect to your Sage Drive data, there are a few steps you need to do first.

  2. In the Select Company window, if you have a multi-company licence, click Add Company.

If you don't have an additional company licence and you already have a created company listed, click your local company, click Replace Company then click OK. If there is only Demonstration data and Practice Data listed, click Add Company.

  3. In the Active Setup wizard, select Connect to data from Sage Drive then click Next.

NOTE: *Single company licence only* - If the Active Setup wizard doesn't appear at this point, or Replace Company isn't available, please refer to this article.

TIP: To help you choose the correct dataset, the following information is provided:

Company nameThe company name within the dataset.
VersionThe version of the uploaded data. To open a company, this version must match your software version.
Data ownerThe email address of the person who originally uploaded the data to sage Drive.
Date first uploadedThe date this dataset was first uploaded to Sage Drive.

NOTE: If you can't see the company listed, the data owner has not given access to the Sage ID you used to sign in.

  7. Enter the encryption password for the shared data, click Connect then log in to the company.

NOTE: The first time you connect, a copy of the data downloads. This can take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the data. Each time you log in after this, only changes to your accounts data download, which should just take a few seconds.
