How to move Sage 50 Accounts to a new computer - single user
Description

Moving to a new computer is easy. Just follow the instructions here to move your program and data to a new computer.

1 - Before you start

 

 

Check your computer details

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts, log in as manager then click Help, then click About.
  2. Under Licence Information make a note of your Serial Number, Activation Key and Account number.
  3. Under Program Details, make a note of your Version Number.

2 - Back up and check your data

Make sure you complete an all files back up on your old computer, so you have a copy of your data. We recommend you backup to a memory stick or a shared drive.
  1. Click File, then click Back up.
  2. Enter a file name for your backup.
    Tip: The default file name is SageAcctsCompany Name YYYY-MM-DD hh.mm.ss.001.
  3. Click Browse and select the location and click OK.
  4. Click Select all file types to include in backup, then click OK.
  5. To check your data, click Yes and click OK.
  6. Click Close, then click Close again.
  7. Click OK.
You need to resolve all check data errors before you install your new software.

3 - Download and install your software

  1. On your new computer, close all software then download the relevant software version.
  2. To begin the installation, locate and double-click the downloaded file, for example:
    Sage50Accounts_v30.1.342.0.exe
    To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl on your keyboard.
  3. If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
  4. Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
  5. Click the Standard (recommended) installation type and click Yes, begin installation.
  6. Once complete, the software checks for any updates, if prompted click Install then click Yes, begin installation.
  7. If prompted to restart your computer, click Restart now.
  8. If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Close.

4 - Restore your data on the new computer

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. In the Add a Company window, choose one of the following:
    • If you use Remote Data Access in Sage 50 Accounts v28, click Download and follow the on-screen prompts.  
    • If you don't use Remote Data Access, click Restore and continue to step 3.
  3. Click Browse, then browse to the path of your backup, then click Open.
  4. Click Continue then enter the software Serial numberActivation key and Account number you noted earlier.
  5. Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
  6. Click Restore and enter your Logon name and Password then click OK.
Great news! You're now ready to start using Sage 50 Accounts on your new computer.  We recommend you now run the Check Data option again. 

 


5 - Uninstall from your old computer

Once you've installed Sage 50 Accounts on your new computer and you're happy you have everything you need, you can uninstall Sage 50 Accounts from your old computer.
