Download and install the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts
Description

To move to the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts you need to export the relevant records, install the latest software, then import the records and add your opening balances. Don't worry all the steps are listed below.

Before you install

Check your computer details

Within your software, click Help, then click About and make note of the following information:

  • Program Directory
  • Version number
  • If using v27.1 or below,  under Remote Data Access Information, make note of the Site value: 
    • Main - you're at the main site, upgrade this site first
    • Remote - upgrade the main site before this site
    • N/A - this means you don't use Remote Data Access
Caution: If you use v16 or below, you can follow the steps to upgrade to the latest version in this dedicated guide. [LINK]

Back up and check your data

  1. Click File, then click Back up.
  2. Enter a file name then click Browse and select the location and click OK.
  3. Click Select all file types to include in backup, then click OK.
  4. To check your data, click Yes and click OK.
  5. Click Close, click Close again, then click OK.

Run your reports

To help you enter your opening balances, run the following reports for your chosen date range up to the date you are upgrading:

  • Trial Balance
  • Aged Creditors
  • Aged Debtors
  • Balance Sheet
  • Profit and Loss
  • If relevant, stock level reports.

Just so you know, we also recommend you print off an audit trail report before you install the newer version of Sage 50 Accounts for your own records. You can also print out any historical VAT returns.


Export records

You are now ready to export your records, so you can import them into the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts.

What you can export and import:

  • Nominal records
  • Customer records
  • Supplier records
  • Product records
  • If required, Project records
  • If required, Fixed asset records

Download and install 

Now you've taken your backups, run your management reports and export your data you are ready to install.

If you can, we recommend you install the new version on a different computer. Don't worry if this isn't possible you can install the software in a new folder.


Create a new company

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. In the Add a Company window, click Create.
  3. Click Continue then enter your software Serial number, Activation key and Account number.
    You can find these on your order confirmation email.
  4. Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
  5. To create your new company, enter your details, clicking Next on each window.
  6. Once you have entered all your details, in the Summary window click Create.
  7. Enter your manager Password you created during the process then click OK.

Enter your accounts information

Import Records

Once you have a new company set up, you can now import the records that you exported previously.

We recommend you import your Nominal Records first before other records such as customers, suppliers and products etc.

Create opening balances

Now you have imported your records, you can now enter opening balances
