Disable antivirus when using Sage 50 Accounts v33.1 We’re investigating an issue where antivirus software prevents v33.1 from installing correctly. Some providers block the installation processes, but other antivirus tools can cause similar issues. Known antivirus software linked to this issue includes: - Webroot
- BrightCloud
- OpenText Cybersecurity
- To continue, temporarily disable any antivirus software on the computer and run the installation again.
- Re‑enable antivirus software after the installation completes.
For help with disabling your antivirus software, contact your local IT support team or the antivirus provider. [BCB:353:UKI - New DSM:ECB] Delete the Control Service folder To resolve this issue, stop the Sage services and delete the Control Service folder. ▼ Stop the Sage services - Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard and enter Services.msc then press Enter.
- Right-click the relevant service and click Stop.
- Sage Accounts v26 and above - Sage 50 Accounts Service vxx
Where xx is your version. For example, v33. - Right-click the relevant control service and click Stop.

- Right-click the Sage.UK.Accounts50.Data.Service.Control_vXX folder, select Delete then Yes.
▼ Restart the Sage services - Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard then enter Services.msc and press Enter.
- Right-click the relevant service and click Start.

Check .NET settings NOTE: If you can't access any of the folders below, contact your IT support to arrange the necessary folder permissions. - Stop your data services. Stop both the Sage 50 Accounts Service and Sage 50 Accounts Control, for your software version.
- Browse to C:\Windows\Temp \.Net and delete any folders that refer to the Sage Control Service, for example: Sage.UK.Accounts50.Data.Service.Control_v29.
If the problem persists, continue to the next step. Check that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 installed on your computer - Hold down the Windows key
and press R then type appwiz.cpl and press OK. - Select Turn Windows features on or off and select the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.XX checkbox, so it shows as
or . - Check that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above installed on your computer. To do this:
- Press the windows key
+ R,type control, then press OK. - Go to Programs and Features then select .
- Enable Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above.
- If you haven't installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above, you can download and install it from www.microsoft.com
- If you have installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above, you should install all appropriate Windows updates.
- Reinstall the required service pack or update that prompted the message.
Try restarting the data service. If the problem persists, reinstall the Sage Accounts Data Service. Install latest .NET version Download and install the latest version of Microsoft .NET. Check the Windows System Information app - In the Windows search bar enter system information, then click System Information
If this window populates, as shown in the image below - Then there’s no issue with the System Information App, so move onto the next section in this guide. If the System Information window is blank or displays an error message, this indicates an issue. To resolve this: - In the Windows search bar, enter cmd then right-click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.
- Type net stop winmgmt, press Enter, if asked if you want to continue press Y, then press Enter.

This will report that the repository has been reset. - Type winmgmt /resetrepository then press Enter.

- Type net start winmgmt press Enter, then close the Command Prompt.
This can report that the WMI Service is has started, which is normal.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts and log in to the company. If the issue persists, continue to Step 6.
- Uninstall then reinstall Sage 50 Accounts.
If the Windows System Information app is still blank, contact your IT administrator for further help. If the issue persists, contact Sage support.
