Repair install

To resolve this, you should first try a repair install of Sage Accounts:

1. Insert the Sage Accounts CD then click Install.
   
   If you originally downloaded Sage Accounts, double-click the downloaded installation file. If you don't have the download installation file, you can download it again.
   
   
2. When prompted, click Repair, then once the repair install has finished, check to see if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, if you are using Windows 8 or Windows 10, click Yes below, otherwise, click No.

Windows 8 or 10

Check you're using a version of Sage Accounts that's supported on Windows 8 or Windows 10.

If you're using a supported version, the problem is caused because Windows 8 or Windows 10 doesn't have .NET 3.5 installed as part of the operating system. To resolve this:

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R then type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
2. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
3. Select the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or 3.5.1 check box, so it shows as or .
4. Leave other settings as they are and click OK.
5. If prompted, click Download files from Windows Update then, if required, click Restart now.

If the issue persists, click Next.

Later version of Sage Accounts previously installed

Have you had a later version of Sage Accounts installed which has now been removed?

TIP: For example, if you'd installed Sage 50 Accounts 2018 (v24) and then removed this and installed Sage 50 Accounts 2017 (v23).

Remove the later versions registry entries

To resolve this error, remove the registry entries for the later versions in:

NOTE: You should backup your registry before removing any entries. If you're unsure how to remove entries from your registry, please contact your local IT support.

Install the ODBC

To resolve this error you must install the ODBC:

1. Right-click the following relevant download link:

   To check your System type, open the System icon in the Control Panel.
   
   
2. Click Save link as or Save target as, then make a note of the file name.
3. Browse to where you want to save the download, for example, the Windows desktop, then click Save.
4. Locate and double-click the downloaded file.
5. If an Open File - Security Warning window appears, to proceed with the installation, click Run.
6. Select the I accept the terms in the License Agreement check box, then click Install.
7. Click Finish, then restart your computer.

If the issue persists, click Next.

Uninstall and reinstall Sage Accounts

To resolve the issue, uninstall Sage Accounts, remove the Sage Assembly files, uninstall and reinstall Microsoft .NET 2.0 and above then reinstall Sage Accounts.

TIP: Ensure all Windows updates, especially any specifically related to .NET, have been installed.

Uninstall Sage Accounts

1. Insert the installation CD. If you don't have a CD, the software can be downloaded.
2. Click Install then click Remove then click Next and click Finish.

Remove the Sage Assembly files

Browse to C:\Windows\Assembly and remove the following files:

• C:\Windows\Assembly\antlr.runtime
• C:\Windows\Assembly\sage.*

• a. Hold down the Windows key + R and type C:\Windows\Assembly\GAC_MSIL then click OK.
• b. Delete the folder Sage.Cryptography

NOTE: You MUST check each file to confirm that it's a Sage file before uninstalling it. To check this, right-click the file then click Properties, click the Version tab then click Select Company. Ensure the company name is Sage (UK) Limited or Sage. Although unlikely, Antlr.runtime may be used by other software. If an assembly file can't be removed move on to the next one.

Uninstall Microsoft .NET

Please contact your IT support for help uninstalling and reinstalling Windows features such as the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 are part of the operating systems or on Windows Vista, Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is part of the operating system therefore can't be removed. You should still remove any versions of Microsoft .NET which appear in add/remove programs.

Reinstall Microsoft .NET

Please reinstall all the versions of the Microsoft .NET framework you've removed, you can download each version of .NET from the Misc updates area of www.sage.co.uk/accountsupdates
