Error: 'Your installation of Sage Accounts has been upgraded to version vXX, but the company data is on an earlier version'.
Description

When opening Sage 50 Accounts on a Remote Data Access remote site you may get the following message:

‘Your installation of Sage Accounts has been upgraded to version vXX, but the company data on Remote Data Access is on an earlier version. Before you can access this company, on your main site you must upgrade Sage Accounts to version 'localVersion', and then convert the data.’

Don't worry, this simply means that you've upgraded your Sage 50 Accounts from v27.1 or below to a newer version than the data held on Remote Data Access. To fix this and access the company, you or a colleague just need to convert the data to the newer version at the main site.

NOTE: If you see a Sage ID expiry message: 'For security reasons you must occasionally re-enter the Sage ID login details for Remote Data Access'. Read more >

MainYour data is shared using Remote Data Access and you are the main site.
RemoteYour data is shared using Remote Data Access and you are a remote site.

Install Sage 50 Accounts at the main site

At the main site, make sure it is the version mentioned in the message. If it is not, download and install the version of Sage 50 Accounts mentioned in the message.

Convert your data at the main site

Once the main site is definitely on the same version mentioned in the message, you need to make sure the data is converted to that version too. Company data does not convert until it has been opened on that version. Log in to your company and you will be prompted to convert the data if the data is an older version

At the main site, for the company you're trying to access, open the company and select Yes to convert your data.

NOTE: If you're working at the main site and the data and software have the same version number but you encounter a message to advice your data must be updated at the main site, you should follow the steps to reset Remote Data Access >

Open your company at the remote site

Once the data is converted at your main site, you should now be able to open the company at the remote site.

If the main site and the company data at the main site is definitely the version mentioned in the message, and the error persists at the remote site, disconnect the remote site from Remote Data Access and reconnect
