RTR stands for Real Time Reporting. It’s the first stage of the Revenue’s PAYE Modernisation project. It is one of the most significant changes ever made since the introduction of PAYE in the 1960’s. It came into effect on the 1st of January 2019. It affects every employer and employee in the country.
It’s a similar concept to UK Payroll Real Time Information (RTI). Employers need to file electronic payroll returns for each payroll run.
Having real-time information means Revenue can issue accurate and timely instructions to businesses. This ensures that an employee’s tax position at any time is correct. This means fewer instances of under or overpayments of tax.
Your Payroll service is 100% compliant with RTR, so you are already set up for RTR.
