Show or hide a ledger account

Summary

How to control where a ledger account appears in Sage Accounting, or hide it when you no longer need it.

Description

When you create a transaction, you only see the relevant ledger accounts, for example, sales ledger accounts only link to sales transactions.

To use a ledger account somewhere else, change its visibility. When you stop using an account, hide it. You can delete it if you haven't used it in any transactions. For details, see Delete a ledger account.

NOTE:

You can't hide control accounts. Sage Accounting uses these ledger accounts when you create transactions. Ledger accounts with balances still appear on your reports, even when you hide them.

Resolution

Show or hide a ledger account

  1. From Settings, then Business settings, select Chart of accounts.
  2. Select the ledger account you want to change.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To change where the ledger account appears, select the relevant areas in the Visibility section
    • To hide the ledger account, clear the Included in Chart checkbox
  4. Select Save.

After you hide a ledger account, you can't select it when you enter transactions.
