Administrative Backup and Restore

Summary

When you are logged in as the administrator, you can back up the entire Sage Payroll system, or specific elements of it, using Administrative Backup.

Resolution

Take an administrative backup

  1. Log into Sage Payroll as the system administrator.
  2. Go to Miscellaneous, then select Backup.
  3. Select the payrolls to include.
  4. To include System Files, select Backup System Files.
    TIP: System files contain information such as user names, user groups, and the PRSI tables.
  5. Select Browse An ellipsis button to locate your back up., then browse to the backup location.
  6. Select Backup.
  7. When the backup has completed, a message appears: The payroll backup was completed. Click OK to dismiss this message.
  8. To close the Backup window, click Cancel.

Restore from an administrative backup

Use Restore when:

  • You can't log in to the payroll as a normal user
  • You haven't set up the payroll on the current installation
  • You've received a payroll backup from us

To restore the administrative backup:

  1. Log in as the system administrator.
  2. Go to Miscellaneous, then select Restore.
  3. Select Browse An ellipsis button to locate your back up., then locate the backup.
  4. Select OK, then Show details to confirm the details of the restore.
  5. For each payroll, note the ID, then select Restore.

    The Restore Direct Reporting Data overwrites the following logs:

    • Auto-enrolment payroll notifications (AEPNs)
    • Auto-enrolment pension submissions
    • Revenue payroll notifications (RPNs)
    • Enhanced reporting submissions
  6. Select Restore, then OK.
  7. Select Cancel.
  8. Go to Login, then select Login to a payroll...
