Summary
When you are logged in as the administrator, you can back up the entire Sage Payroll system, or specific elements of it, using Administrative Backup.
Resolution
Carrying out an administrative backup
- Log into Sage Payroll as the system administrator.
- From the menu bar at the top of your window, click Miscellaneous then click Backup.
- In the list, select the payrolls you wish to include in the backup.
TIP: Sage Payroll can include multiple payrolls in a single backup. - If you wish to include System Files, select the Backup System Files check box.
TIP: System files contain information such as user names, user groups, and the PRSI tables. - Click Browse and browse to where you wish to save the backup, then click Backup.
- When the backup has completed, a message appears: The payroll backup was completed. Click OK to dismiss this message.
- To close the Backup window, click Cancel.
Restoring payrolls from an administrative backup
The Restore function is normally used only when:
- You cannot log in to the payroll as a normal user;
- The payroll has not been set up on the current installation of Sage Payroll;
- You have received a payroll backup from Sage Payroll technical support.
- Log into Sage Payroll as the system administrator.
- From the menu bar at the top of your window, click Miscellaneous then click Restore.
- Click Browse , browse to where your backup is stored, then click OK.
- Click Show details.
- Before you proceed any further, check the details of the restorable data and ensure they are correct. If not, repeat steps 3 and 4 again.
- For each payroll you want to restore data for, make a note of the ID then select the Restore check box.
NOTE: There is no need to tick the option for Direct Payroll Reporting Data.
- Click Restore, then click OK.
- To close the Restore window, click Cancel.
- To log into the Payroll, browse to Login, then click Login to a payroll...
