Sage Drive - Encryption password

Created on  | Last modified on

This article provides more information about when the Sage Drive encryption password in Sage 50 Accounts is needed, as well as explain what to do if you have forgotten what your encryption password is.

CAUTION: After 2 August 2021, Remote Data Access (formerly known as Sage Drive) will no longer be available in Sage 50cloud Accounts v26 and below and all versions of Sage 50 Accounts. To use Remote Data Access after that date you must install Sage 50cloud Accounts v27.

NOTE: If you are using Sage 50 Accounts v27, please follow this article instead >

When you set up Sage Drive in Sage 50 Accounts v26 and below, as part of the set up process, you upload a copy of your data to the cloud. At this point you are prompted to enter an encryption password.

CAUTION: It's important to retain this password as for security purposes it cannot be reset or decoded.

If you're the data owner

You will need this password if you want to give other other people, such as your accountant, access to your data.

If you cannot recall the encryption password, the only way to change the password is to remove the company from Sage Drive and set it up again.

If you're not the data owner

If you aren't the data owner, the person who invited you to access their data should supply you with the encryption password.
