Change an employee’s Employment ID

Steps to change an employee’s Employment ID in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland.

Description

The Employment ID in Employee Details is a unique value for each employment. Revenue requires this value for PAYE submissions.

Sage 50 Payroll Ireland assigns a default Employment ID of 1 when you add a new employee. Only change this value if:

  • the employee has multiple employments, or
  • the employee left and rejoined in the same tax year

Resolution

Only change the Employment ID if the employee left and rejoined or if Revenue instructs you to do so.

  1. Go to Processing, then select Employee Details.
  2. Next to Surname, select Browse, then select the employee.
  3. Next to Employment ID, select Edit.
  4. In New Employment ID, enter a new value using letters and digits (0–9).
    • The value must be different from the Current Employment ID
    • You can't use special characters
  5. Select Change, then Save.
  6. Repeat these steps for each employee you need to update, then select Cancel.
