Check your pension setup before auto-enrolment

Summary

Check you've set up your pension schemes correctly in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland. If they aren’t pension schemes, NAERSA can’t detect them and enrols your employees into My Future Fund.

Description

Sage 50 Payroll Ireland reports pension details in your submissions to Revenue. If you currently process pensions as ordinary deductions or outside payroll, NAERSA won’t recognise these employees as already in a pension. As a result, NAERSA enrols them into My Future Fund under auto-enrolment.

Resolution

  1. Go to Company/Payroll, then select Deductions.
  2. Choose a pension deduction, then select Edit.
  3. Check and update these details:
    Sub-type Select Pension / RAC / PRSA, or Pension / RAC / PRSA / CWPS if available.
    Pension Scheme Link to the correct pension scheme.
    Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) If this deduction is an additional voluntary contribution, select this box.
    Balance Type Choose Accumulate a balance.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Repeat these steps for all pension deductions in each payroll.
