Summary
Process a second payment in the same pay period in Sage 50 Payroll Ireland.
Resolution
Before you start
A bonus run lets you record a second payment within the same pay period, for example, if Revenue tells you to record redundancy payment under a different PRSI code.
Keep in mind:
- Always complete your normal pay run first, so tax credits and cut-offs calculate correctly
- Sage 50 Payroll Ireland doesn’t deduct pension contributions for the employee or employer in a bonus run because those deductions happen in the main pay run
- Tax and Universal Social Charge (USC) recalculate across both runs
- Gross pay and PRSI from the normal run carry into the PRSI calculations for the bonus run
Set a bonus run period
- Check the payroll status at the bottom of Sage 50 Payroll Ireland is End of Period (EOP). If it isn't, revert back to an archived period and correct it first.
- Select Processing, then Set Period.
CAUTION: Don’t change the period number. This needs to be the same as the normal pay run. - Select the Bonus Run check box.
NOTE: When you set a bonus run period, the Ins. Weeks value reduces to zero. This is correct , don't amend it. - Select OK.
Process employees pay in the bonus run
- Go to Processing, then Time and Pay.
- Under Entry Mode, select Random, then Continue.
- Next to Employee, select Browse, then choose the employee.
- Select the next available pay element or deduction line.
- Press F2 on your keyboard, then double-click the payment or deduction.
Repeat this for each item to include. - Enter the employee's pay details:
- Hourly payments: Enter hours in Hrs/Val and rate in Rate
- Fixed or variable payments: Enter the value in Hrs/Val
- Deductions:
- Enter the employee’s deduction in E’e Value
- If needed, add the company’s contribution in E’r Contrib
- Enter 1 in the Deductions field under Pay Periods if required
- Select Save.
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each employee, then select Cancel.
Close the bonus run
When you’re ready to close the bonus period, follow the same steps you’d normally use in process your payroll.
