Floating nominal codes in the chart of accounts
Description

We reserve floating Nominal Account areas in Current Assets and Current Liabilities. These are for accounts that can be an asset or a liability, like bank accounts.

There’s a limit of 10 floating nominals.

 

Add a new floating account

  1. Go to Nominal codes then Chart of accounts.
  2. Select the relevant chart of accounts, then press Edit.
  3. Select the Balance Sheet tab.
  4. Select Current Assets in the top section of the window.
  5. Go to the "Floating Nominal Accounts" section at the bottom of the window.
  6. Click into a blank field in the Current Assets column.
  7. Enter the category name.
  8. Select Yes on the message to copy the range to Current Liabilities.
  9. Enter the Low and High nominal codes.
  10. Select Save at the bottom of the window.

Edit a floating account

  1. Go to Nominal codes then Chart of accounts.
  2. Select the relevant chart of accounts, then press Edit.
  3. Select the Balance Sheet tab.
  4. Select Current Assets in the top section of the window.
  5. Go to the "Floating Nominal Accounts" section at the bottom of the window.
  6. Select the field to edit and make the changes.
  7. Select Yes on the message to copy the range to Current Liabilities.
  8. Select Save at the bottom of the window.

 NOTE: If you receive an Incomplete chart of accounts message, you can identify and correct any errors.
