Get ready for Auto enrolment
Description

Auto enrolment makes saving for retirement simple. Employees aged 23 to 60 who earn €20,000 or more join automatically if they don’t already pay into a pension. The National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority (NAERSA) manages the scheme through My Future Fund.

Your responsibility

Activate your My Future Fund account and set up payment method

As an Employer you must register with NAERSA on the My Future Fund employer portal, using your existing Revenue Online Services (ROS) certificate and password. This will then allow you to download and submit pension information.

You’ll also need to add your Direct Debit details so they can collect contributions.

You can access this at myfuturefund.ie.

PAYE modernisation registration

If you’ve have already used Sage Payroll before the 2026 tax year, you would have already registered to retrieve and submit data to ROS. If you’re new to Sage Payroll, you must register before you process anything.

  1. Select Summary from the menu bar.
  2. Under PAYE Modernisation, select Register Now.

Run payroll with auto-enrolment

Keep doing exactly what you do now, you’ll just add two quick steps to your normal payroll routine:

  1. Retrieve AEPNs, just like RPNs.
  2. Sage Payroll automatically calculates the employee, employer, and State contribution amounts.
  3. Run payroll as normal, contributions appear on payslips.
  4. Send your auto-enrolment submission along with your usual payroll submissions.
NOTE: You need to submit your auto-enrolment submission before the 18:30 deadline on submission day.

NAERSA handles the rest

NAERSA collects contributions automatically through your chosen payment method and processes opt-outs and suspensions. Sage Payroll always follows the latest AEPN.

  • The State handles the administration
  • Sage Payroll applies the rules automatically
  • You keep running payroll the same way, with two extra steps
