When you select the 'Remember me' option, your Internet browser saves this selection using cookies. Your browser or cookie settings sometimes stops this from working, causing the 2FA prompt to continue appearing. If you find this feature isn't working correctly, check the following possible causes: Incognito Mode Don't use an incognito or private browsing window when you log in and select 'Remember me'. These modes don't save the required cookies. Clearing browsing data If you clear browsing data from your Internet browser, this normally deletes all cookies. When you delete your cookies, you remove the cookies for the 2FA 'Remember me' setting. This means the 2FA prompt appears again the next time you log in. Automatic deletion settings Some browsers offer the option to delete browsing data including cookies at regular intervals, automatically. If you use this feature, whenever your browser deletes cookies the 'Remember me' function resets. Check your browser settings to see if you've enabled this option. If so, adjust these settings to continue to use the 'Remember me' option. NOTE: For help with checking this, visit the support guides for your Internet browser or contact the provider. Use the same browser Cookies don't transfer between Internet browsers, so you need to log in with the browser you used when you selected 'Remember me'. For example, if you selected the option in Google Chrome, you're prompted to complete 2FA if you log in using Microsoft Edge. Use one device If possible, log in using the same device that you were using when you turned on 'Remember me'. Switching devices requires you to complete 2FA again, as the cookie is on the device you originally used. Don't share login details Don't share your username or password with others. This can cause the Remember me option not to work, as it's designed for individual use. Visit our 2FA for multi-user Sage accounts article to find out more. |
