The Product record Web tab
Description
The Web tab in a product record can store information that you use to create your web shop. You can insert an image of the product, either in a .BMP, .JPEG or .GIF format, so that within Sage, you can easily see what your customers see. This is an information-only screen and is not integratable with your website. Let's take a look.

NOTE: The web tab is not available in Sage 50 Accounts Essentials.

You can use this tab to enter information that you use to create your web shop. You can insert an image of the product, either in a .BMP, .JPEG or .GIF format, so that your customers can see exactly what you sell.
DescriptionEnter an alternative description for the product. This can be up to sixty characters.
DetailsEnter any additional information about the product.
Publish to WebIf the product is on your website, select this check box. This box is for reporting purposes only.
Special OfferIf the product is part of a special offer, select this check box. This box is for reporting purposes only.
Custom FieldsUse the custom boxes to categorise and identify specific types of products. These boxes are for reporting purposes only.

TIP: You can customise the text labels for these boxes to suit your own business needs. You can do this in Settings > Configuration > Products > Product Custom Fields.

ImageTo include an image of your product, click Add, then when the Open window appears, locate and select the required image.

NOTE: You must ensure the Files of type is set to the correct file type for the image to appear. For example, if the image is a JPG file you should choose JPEG Image File (*.JPG).  NOTE: The filename of the image must be alpha numeric and not contain any illegal characters, for example, £, @, { etc. 

NOTE: If it does, it won't be attached and you may receive the following warning message when reopening the product record: "The image file connected to this product code does not exist. Please select Remove then Add to re-connect it." For the image to automatically appear in the Image preview area, you must use a BMP or JPG file. If you use a GIF file, the Image preview area prompts you to Use Show to display Image.

If required, to remove an image from the Product Record Web tab, click Remove.

If no image file is selected, the image name box displays (none). If an image is selected the image name box displays the name and type of file, for example, Background.jpg.

NOTE: Sage Accounts copies this file, and stores it in the Images folder in your data directory. The optimum image size to avoid cropping or resizing is:

  • If your screen resolution is 1024 x 768 the image size should be no larger than 700 x 530 pixels.
  • If your screen resolution is 1280 x 1024 the image size should be no larger than 950 x 800 pixels.
