On each client computer that you use Sage Payroll on, complete the following steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the network location of the payroll data. Make note of this location.
2. Log on to the computer as a Windows administrator.
3. In Sage Payroll, browse to Help then click System Information.
4. Click on the link beneath Program Directory.
   

   NOTE: You can also right-click the Sage Payroll icon on your Desktop, and click Open File Location.

5. Double-click a tax year folder, for example, 2023.
6. Locate and right-click the file, dataloc.ini.
7. Click Open with then click Notepad.
8. Enter the network location noted in step 1.
9. Click File then click Save.
10. Click File then click Exit.
11. Repeat steps 5 to 10 for all tax years in the Sage Payroll folder.
12. Open Sage Payroll and log into a payroll as normal.

Sage Payroll is now accessing the payroll data held in your network location.
