Microsoft support ends for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008
Description

On 14 January 2020 Microsoft ended support for the following operating systems:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
Cause
Resolution

While we understand the impact that a change in operating system, hardware or software may have on your business, it is crucial you assess the risk that continuing to use an unsupported operating system means for your business.

Our general guidance is that you upgrade your operating system that has reached it's end of life date, to ensure not only continued support from Sage but also continued security for your business and data.

How does this affect support

If you continue to use these operating systems after 14 January 2020, Sage Support will continue to assist you where we can. Where possible we will attempt to resolve issues, however if our technical support teams identify the root cause of the issue as related to one of these products no longer supported by Microsoft, and we cannot provide you with a working alternative we will refer you to seek support from your internal or external IT resource, or suggest you upgrade your hardware and systems.

We test our applications with all supported versions of Microsoft relevant components. Unfortunately, as they are no longer supported by Microsoft, software released after 14 January 2020 will not be tested with the components listed above.

Additionally, over time, we will begin to develop our applications on newer third party components that are not available for, or compatible with outdated hardware or software. In this scenario we will not be able to support you any further, until you upgrade Microsoft components.
