Check the accounts data path

 NOTE: If you use Sage 50 Accounts v27.1 with Remote Data Access, you must follow the steps below on a computer that's not a remote siteCheck now >

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts, then on the menu bar click Help, then click About.
  2. Under Program Details make a note of the Data Directory.
    If the data path starts with C:You are on the computer that holds your data and you have the full Sage 50 Accounts program installed.
    If the data path doesn't start with C:It's likely that your data is held on another computer on your network and you should proceed to the following section.

Check which computer holds your data

Look at the data directory that you checked when you read the section above, Check the accounts data path.

If your data directory starts with \\
If your data directory starts with a letter -

Locate the computer

Once you know the name of the computer holding your data, you need to locate it. If you're unsure which computer this is, you can check the name on each computer.

  1. Click the Windows Start menu then in the search box enter cmd.
  2. Right-click cmd.exe then click Run as administrator.
  3. In the command window type hostname then press Enter.
  4. Note the computer name that appears.
  5. To close the window type exit then press Enter.

Check if the located computer has Sage 50 Accounts installed

  1. Log in to the computer that holds your data.
  2. Press the Windows key + R, type appwiz.cpl then press Enter.
  3. In the list of programs, check if Sage 50 Accounts vXX is listed, where XX is your software version e.g v27

    If so, this means your server has the full Sage 50 Accounts program installed.

    If not, this means you have a data only server that doesn't have the Sage 50 Accounts program installed.
