Install Sage 50 Accounts v24 single user and store data on a server
Description

Single user installations of Sage 50 Accounts are normally self contained on one computer. However, if you're installing for the first time and you need to install Sage 50 Accounts on one computer but store your data on a separate server, you can follow the steps below. If you're not familiar with sharing folders and copying and pasting folders on a network, you may want to refer to your IT support for assistance.

This article applies to both Sage 50 Accounts v24 and Sage 50 Accounts v24.

Check your system requirements and access

To make sure the download and install process runs smoothly, we recommend you check the following before you start.

Download Sage 50 Accounts
    1. To download Sage 50 Accounts v24, click the download link below.

    2. Enter your My Sage login details, click Sign In, then click Download.
      Depending on your Internet browser, the file saves in your Downloads folder or you're prompted to save the file.
    3. If prompted to save the file, note the file name, browse to where you want to save it, then click Save.
Install the Data Service on your server

Sage 50 Accounts uses the Sage Accounts Data Service to control the flow of data. You must install this on the server.

If you don't have access to the server, you should contact your local IT Support.

    1. On the server computer, right-click the following download link:

    1. Click Save link as or Save target as, note the file name, browse to where you want to save it, then click Save.
    2. Locate and double-click the downloaded file, if an Open File - Security Warning window appears, click Run.
    3. Follow the on-screen prompts then when the install completes, click Close.
    4. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for the following download link:

Create and share a folder on your server

Before you start, on your server create a folder to store your data and share the folder, giving other network users full control.

We recommend sharing the 2018 folder in the path below:

  • C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2018\Company.000
Install Sage Accounts on a client computer
Connect to the data on the server

Having installed the software on your client computer, you need to connect to the data on the server.

  1. On the client computer, open Sage Accounts.
  2. In the ActiveSetup wizard click Create a new company, then click Change.
  3. Browse to or type the path to your Company.000 folder then click OK.
  4. Click Next then enter your software serial number, activation key and if prompted, your account number.
  5. Click Next, click OK and if a confirmation message appears click OK.
  6. To create your new company, follow the on-screen prompts.
