Advanced Report Writer (ARW) - What field attributes are available?
Description

When you're designing an Advanced Report Writer (ARW) report, you must select the fields you want included on the report. If you want to edit a field's attributes, select the relevant field then click Format.

Here is a list of the attributes you can edit for a field:

Field Name / Sub Heading Ref This is a two line column header which you may edit. There's an upper and lower heading for each field.
Filter You can use this option to restrict a field's information from appearing on your report. Read more >
Total Type The following options are available for you to select here
  • No Totals - Totals won't appear on the report.
  • Sum - Totals appear on the report.
  • Count - Counts the number of records printed.
  • Repeat - This option is used on summary reports, and simply repeats the field in the last detail line.
  • Recalc - Can be applied to a formula field if you would like ARW to recalculate the formula each time the report is loaded.
  • Min - Returns the minimum number of the column if applied to a numeric field.
  • Max - Returns the maximum number of the column if applied to a numeric field.
  • Average - Returns the average of the column if applied to a numeric field.
Hide Indicator You can specify whether this field appears on your report, by selecting either Show or Hide. For example, if a field is needed for a formula calculation, but isn't necessary to print on a report. The hide option won't display the selected field.
Suppress Zeros If you select Yes and this field generates a value of 0.00, it won't appear on your report.
Decimal Places If the field generates a numeric value, enter the number of decimal places you want to appear on the report.
Suppress Duplicates If you select Yes and this field generates duplicate values on each line of the report, the duplicates won't appear on your report.
Field Length Edit the length of the field, as required.

If you amend the length on a numeric field, check that enough characters are specified to print the value in full.

Concatenate If you want to join the current field to the next field in your listing, click Yes. For example, this can be used to join first and surname fields together.
Connector If you want a single character to appear between the two joined fields, enter it here. For example, / , or &.

This option is only available if you've clicked Yes on the Concatenate option.
