Chart of accounts error - 'Nominal Code xxxx has been used as part of one "floating" category range, but not as part of the equivalent "floating" category in Current Assets / Liabilities'
Description

When you check your chart of accounts, you may get the following error:

Nominal Code xxxx has been used as part of one "floating" category range, but not as part of the equivalent "floating" category in Current Assets / Liabilities

When a nominal code is included within the floating category ranges in both Current Assets and Current Liabilities, it appears on the balance sheet report as an asset or a liability, depending on its balance.

The above messages mean you have a nominal code included in one floating category but not in the other. For example, you have the nominal code set up in the floating category in Current Assets but not in Current Liabilities.

Cause
Resolution

To correct this you need to amend the ranges in the floating category so they are the same in both Current Assets and Current Liabilities. If you want a nominal code to be included in a specific category, for example Current Assets, then you need to remove it from the floating category range and include it in a normal Current Assets category.
