Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) nominal codes
Description

When you activate the CIS module in Sage 50 Accounts, this creates several default nominal codes for you to use when you process CIS transactions.

Resolution

When you activate Sage 50 CIS, you can specify your own CIS nominal codes to use or use the default set by the software.

To view your current CIS nominal codes:

  1. On the menu bar click Settings, then click Company Preferences.
  2. Click CIS, then click View/Edit Nominal Codes.

Lets take a look at which nominal codes are created and used by default:

Nominal codeNameDescription
6000CIS LabourUse to post labour transactions.
6001CIS MaterialsUse to post materials transactions.
6002CIS Other labourUse for any labour you want to differentiate from the main labour nominal code.
6100CIS Other MaterialsUse for any materials you want to differentiate from the main materials nominal code.
2101CIS TaxThe tax automatically posts to this nominal code when you pay the CIS labour invoices.
2102CIS Tax LiabilityThe tax automatically transfers from the CIS tax control account into the tax liability when you submit the CIS Return. You can then post the payment to HMRC using this nominal code.
8200CIS CITB LevyUse to record any CITB Levy.
