If your Sage 50 Accounts subscription isn't recognised, or you want to enter a new one, you can reset this. Let's do this now.

NOTE: If you're based in Ireland, before following the steps below, you must check that your Windows regional settings are set to English (Ireland) and location set as Ireland. You can follow our guide on How to check or edit your computer's regional settings to do this.

Reset the subscription key

TIP: Before you start, make sure you have your new licence information handy. Need to find it? Use our Find your Sage serial number, activation key and account number guide.

1. Close Sage 50 Accounts.
2. Hold down the Windows Key and press E to open File Explorer.
3. In the address bar type C:\ProgramData\Sage\ then press Enter.
4. Right-click SDK Licence, click Rename then rename the folder to SDK Licence OLD

TIP: If you can't see the folder, click the View tab, and then tick the Hidden items checkbox. 

5. In the address bar type the following relevant path:

   Sage Accounts v29	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2023
   Sage Accounts v28	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2022
   Sage Accounts v27	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2021
   Sage Accounts v26	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2020
   Sage Accounts v25	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2019
   Sage Accounts v24	C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2018

6. Delete the sage.usr file.
    TIP: This is held in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\XXXX. Replace XXXX with the relevant year, as per the table in step 5. 
7. Download the registry fix > 
   
   

   NOTE: If you're using Chrome and you're prompted to discard the file, click the arrow-head and click Keep.

8. If prompted to save the file, note the file name, then click Save.
   
   

   Depending on your web browser, the Line50_AccountNumber_Remove.reg file may automatically save to your Downloads folder. To view your download folder, press Ctrl + J on your keyboard.

9. Browse to and double-click the downloaded file.
10. Click Yes, click Yes, then click OK.
11. Open Sage 50 Accounts and when prompted, enter your Serial number, Activation key and Account number.
