Report Designer - move, align, resize, and centre objects
Description

Using Sage Report Designer, you can move, resize, or align the objects and fields that make up your document.  

Cause
Resolution

Before you start, open and rename your document

  1. Select the document you want to amend, then select Edit.
  2. In the 'Sage Report Designer' window, go to Report, then select Report Properties.
  3. Enter a new Report NameReport Description, then press OK.
  4. On the menu bar, go to File, then select Save As.
  5. Enter a new file name, then press Save.
  6. Keep the 'Sage Report Designer' window open then select an option below:

▼ Move and resize an object

You just need to click and drag to resize or move the object.

NOTE:

Moving an object this way can cause issues with a report or layout displaying or printing incorrectly. If this ever occurs, contact our Report Design technical support team.


▼ Align a selection of objects

You can align multiple times to match the alignment of an existing object. For example, a range of address variables.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align the other objects to.

  1. Hold Ctrl on your keyboard, then single-click the objects you want to align.

  1. Go to Format, then select Alignment.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    Left Aligns all objects horizontally to the left-hand side of the object first selected.
    Right Aligns all objects horizontally to the right-hand side of the object first selected.
    Centre Aligns all objects horizontally to the centre of the object first selected.
    Top Aligns all objects vertically to the top of the object first selected.
    Bottom Aligns all objects vertically to the bottom of the object first selected.
    Middle Aligns all objects vertically to the middle of the object first selected.
    Grid The objects you select snap to the nearest grid corners when using the snap to grid setting.
  3. Go to File then Save.

▼ Align the contents of an object

You can align a variable within the size of its own object.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align.
  2. On the formatting toolbar, select the Align Left, Centre, Align Right, or Justify option.

  1. Go to File then Save.

▼ Make objects the same size

You can make several objects the same size as an existing object.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align the other objects to.

  1. Hold Ctrl on your keyboard, then single-click the objects you want to align.

  1. Go to Format, then select Make Same Size.
  2. Select either:
  • Width
  • Height
  • Both
  1. Go to File then Save.

▼ Centre an object on the page

You can align an object so that it's aligned to the middle of the section. For example, a document name.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align.

  1. Go to Format, then select Centre In Section.
  2. Select Horizontally or Vertically.
  3. Go to File then Save.
