Report Designer - move, align, resize and centre objects
Description

Using Sage Report Designer, it's simple to move, resize or align the objects and fields that make up your document. Let's take a look at how to do this.

Don't worry, some of these steps may look quite technical but they're normally straightforward to follow.

Open and Save your document

  1. Select the document you want to amend, then click Edit.
  2. On the menu bar click Report, click Report Properties.
  3. Enter a new report name and description, then click OK.
  4. On the menu bar click File, click Save As.
  5. Enter a new file name then click Save.

Move and resize an object

Simply click and drag to resize or move the object.

NOTE: If you move an object this way, you may experience issues with a report or layout displaying or printing incorrectly. If this ever occurs, please contact our Report Design technical support team.


Align a selection of objects

It' simple to align multiple times to match the alignment of an existing object. For example, a range of address variables.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align other objects too.
  2. Hold Ctrl on your keyboard, then single click the objects you want to align.
  3. Click Format, then click Alignment.
  4. Select one of the following options:
    Left Aligns all objects horizontally to the left-hand side of the object first selected.
    Right Aligns all objects horizontally to the right-hand side of the object first selected.
    Centre Aligns all objects horizontally to the centre of the object first selected.
    Top Aligns all objects vertically to the top of the object first selected.
    Bottom Aligns all objects vertically to the bottom of the object first selected.
    Middle Aligns all objects vertically to the middle of the object first selected.
    Grid The objects selected snap to the nearest grid corners when using the snap to grid setting.

Align the contents of an object

It's easy to align a variable within the size of its own object.

  1. Click the object you want to align.
  2. On the formatting toolbar, click the Align Left, Centre, Align Right, or Justify options.

Make objects the same size

You may want to make several objects the same size as an existing object, this is straightforward to do.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align other objects too.
  2. Hold Ctrl on your keyboard, then single click the objects you want to align.
  3. Click Format, then click Make Same Size.
  4. Select to make the objects the same width, height or both.

Centre an object on the page

Aligning an object so that it's aligned to the middle of the section it is currently in is quick to do. For example a document name.

  1. Single-click the object you want to align.
  2. Click Format, then click Centre In Section.
  3. Select Horizontal or Vertical.
